Part of Strategy & Transformation

Operating model design

An organisation designed around your strategy, with clear structures, roles, processes and decision rights.

Organisations tend to grow by accumulation: a new unit here, an extra approval there. Over time the structure stops reflecting the strategy, and work slows down at every hand-off.

When to call us. Signs it’s time for this work.

  • Decisions climb too many levels before anyone can act.
  • Head office and subsidiaries duplicate the same functions.
  • Roles overlap and accountability blurs when things go wrong.
  • Growth or a new strategy has outpaced the current structure.

What’s included. Scoped to your context, delivered end to end.

  1. 01

    Operating model blueprint

How value is created, which capabilities sit where, and how the parts of the organisation work together.

  2. 02

    Organisation structure

Layers, spans of control and reporting lines designed for clarity and speed, not inherited habit.

  3. 03

    Roles and decision rights

Who decides, who contributes and who is informed, for the decisions that matter most.

  4. 04

    Governance and shared services

The right balance between centre and units, including which services to share, centralise or devolve.

How we work. Four phases, with value at every step.

  1. 1

    3–4 weeks

    Assess

We map today’s structure, processes and pain points through data, interviews and workshops.

  2. 2

    4–6 weeks

    Design

We develop and test options against agreed principles, then select the target model with leadership.

  3. 3

    4–6 weeks

    Detail

We define roles, processes, sizing and interfaces so the design works in practice, not just on paper.

  4. 4

    3–6 months

    Transition

We plan and support the move to the new model, managing people, risk and business continuity.

What you walk away with

  • Current-state diagnostic
  • Design principles and options
  • Target organisation charts
  • Decision-rights matrix
  • Transition roadmap

What changes

  • Faster decisions with clear accountability.
  • A structure that reflects the strategy.
  • Less duplication between centre and units.

Common questions.

Is this just a restructuring exercise?

No. Structure is one element. We also look at processes, decision rights, governance, talent and the ways of working that make a structure function.

How do you handle the people side?

Carefully and early. We work with HR and leadership on communication, role mapping and labour-law considerations so transitions are fair and well managed.

Can you design for a group operating in several countries?

Yes. It is a frequent case. We help define what stays local, what is shared regionally and what the head office owns.
